Demonstrating Dementia Leadership

Eligible participants must be working with people living with dementia in a professional capacity to complete this program. To identify and ensure you have the right support to complete this nationally recognised program, applicants are required to complete pre-enrolment screening as part of the enrolment process.

As this is an online program, learning can happen from anywhere with an internet connection, using a desktop PC, laptop or tablet device. Participants must also have a computer camera, to engage in webinar sessions.

Group bookings require a minimum of 15 participants and a maximum of 30.

• Define leadership in the context of quality dementia support
• Identify organisational standards, values and ethics
• Identify the qualities and personality traits required of leaders in dementia support
• Understand key leadership theories and styles relevant to providing quality dementia support

• Understand the impact of organisational culture and team behaviours
• Define and measure key performance indicators
• Understand the work processes involved in developing performance plans
• Understand group dynamics and the impact on the team
• Recognise stages of group development
• Recognise barriers to team effectiveness
• Provide clear expectations of the responsibilities of leaders and team members

• Establish individual and team member goals to improve performance
• Recognise performance issues and their impact on service delivery
• Understand the requirements of the lines of communication
• Identify the benefits of feedback and how to give and receive it

• Understand strategies to promote and introduce practice change
• Utilise a quality improvement cycle framework to promote dementia practice change
• Understand how to include innovation and productivity measures in development plans
