Dine with Ted: Virtual Reality Dining Experience
Using virtual reality (VR), your staff will see the dining experience through the eyes of a person living with dementia.
By improving the dining experience, staff contribute to reduced changed behaviours and incidents related to poor nutrition and dehydration, and increased staff productivity.
This course combines VR experiences with engaging discussions and classroom learning over a 3-hour session. By integrating cutting-edge technology with traditional interactive methods, participants gain deep insights and practical knowledge in a balanced and dynamic learning environment.
Course details
VR dining experience
This virtual reality experience is set in a dining area during a meal. Participants see the dining experience from two perspectives: as a care worker, and from the point of view of Ted, who lives with dementia. Participants explore how food, environment and support can greatly influence the dining experience.
Person-centred dining care
Dine with Ted focuses on quality, person-centred care. The VR experience helps staff understand the importance of people living with dementia feeling supported during mealtime, and how they can help create that support.
