Dementia-Friendly Recognition events in Brisbane

The important role of Advocates in initiating and supporting their communities to work towards becoming dementia friendly was highlighted and celebrated during Dementia Action Week.
Advocates John Quinn and Glenys Petrie were instrumental in the University of Queensland Centre for Clinical Research receiving formal recognition by Dementia Australia as working towards becoming a dementia-friendly organisation. It is the first research centre in Australia to submit an action plan to the Dementia-Friendly Communities program.
Advocates Eileen and Dubhglas Taylor were influential in Redland City Council becoming the second council in Queensland acknowledged for its commitment to creating a dementia-friendly city. This was celebrated during a ceremony hosted by the Redlands Coast Dementia Community.
